Arsenopyrite

1.3.1 Arsenosulfides. Arsenopyrite (FeAsS), orpiment (As2 S 3 ), and realgar (AsS/As 4 S 4) are the most common arsenic sulfide minerals, occurring primarily in hydrothermal and magmatic ore deposits. Arsenic is commonly found in sulfide-bearing mineral deposits, especially with gold mineralization. Orpiment, due to its golden color, was used ...

Arsenopyrite

Arsenopyrite is a hard metallic iron arsenic sulfide with steel gray to silver-white color, and the major source of arsenic. The mineral in purest form contains 46.0% As, 34.3% Fe, and 19.7% S, which turns it chemically toxic. The mineral is associated with sulfide orebodies and gold deposits. Arsenopyrite is the major source of arsenic ...

The separation of arsenic from copper in a Northparkes copper–gold ore

In order for the high-arsenic regions of the Northparkes copper–gold orebody to be beneficiated economically, tennantite ((Cu,Fe) 12 As 4 S 13) present in the ore needs to be rejected to enable copper concentrates to meet the typical smelter penalty level of 2000 ppm As. Using a composite sample of high-arsenic drill cores from Northparkes it …

Investigation has been carried out for arsenic removal from a silver bearing copper ore. The copper ore was roasted in nitrogen atmosphere (> 99%) at temperatures ranging from 923.15 K to1123.15 K. By suitably adjusting the main reaction conditions, nearly 98% arsenic was removed at 1053.15 K for 3 h in nitrogen atmosphere, while most of the ...

Effect of redox potential and pH on arsenic speciation and solubility

An alkaline pH, or the reduction of As(V) to As(III), released substantial proportions of arsenic into solution. Under moderately reduced soil conditions (0-100 mV), arsenic solubility was controlled by the dissolution of iron oxyhydroxides. Arsenic was coprecipitated (as As(V)) with iron oxyhydroxides and released upon their solubilization.
